Churchill Downs

***Tried my best to go back and put this in order! This post belongs in between Mammoth Cave and Cinncinnatti Science Museum back in the fall of 2011! We are sorry for the incovienience! Thank you, Blog Manager:)***

No trip to Louisville is complete without a trip to Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum. It had been a while since Jason and I went and we were pleased to see the expansion, interactive games and kid friendly activities! Come to think of it, I'm not sure last time we were there we were at all interested in kid friendly things! A very cool and slightly rule bending security guard looked the other way as Jason scooped some dirt up from the track into a Starbucks iced coffee jar! Wil's school has a garden to pour dirt from "all over the world." We thought dirt from the track would make the flowers grow faster! Elsie loved all the flowers on the paddock-especially the roses! It is such an experience walking the paddock and ending up on the track between the steeples! Hopefully it means the kids will have an appreciation for watching the Kentucky Derby in May!
